This is a somewhat belated birthday present that I've been working on for a while for the BF,
daskruff. If you don't know him yet, head on over and check out his music too, he's got some good stuff even if he won't admit it.
I'm still working on the fur texture, I'm not sure if I really like how it came out in some parts here. It looks good in areas where there's supposed to be thick ruff, like the chest and neck, but doesn't look as good in other places, so I think I have to work more on getting the transition from longer fur to shorter. But whatever! You can still try to enjoy this one for now. :P

About the fur texture: it looks great where it belongs, but I think something to look for would be that it might not be visible at all depending on how lit certain areas are. Such as, it looks really good on daskruff's chest, but seems a little out of place on his tail, just because it wouldn't (I feel) be as visible with how his part of that body is lit. Kinda like a feature that is most noticable/visible as a highlight. With it being only a highlight-type feature, it might give the same effect of fluffy fur across the whole body without actually needing the fur texture across the whole body visible.
Of course I've never drawn fur so take it just as an outsider observation :v

I think you're right, the lighting would definitely make those fur clumps pop out more but they should probably recede in the shadows. It also would depend on how long the fur is in certain spots... I think it needs more practice, but It may be moving in the right direction. I guess that's just what I get for trying not to stagnate too much, though.
This is so touching and adorable. I love how cute Skruff looks all into his game hehe. About the fur too, in some places it kinda looks a little like scales to me. Like on the tail and part of your legs but otherwise, as you said, it looks great and the picture as a whole is awesome
As far as a fur texture goes, I feel that it works in more evenly lit scenes like the scene in "Blue Balled". In this one the majority of the light is coming from the television.
I also thing it gives the appearance of being wet or greasy; when one hasn't showered in a few days the hair will clump together and it'll look darker and more shiny.

As I said above in a reply, the leopard's tail fur (his) and the wolf's knee fur (yours) look a bit like scales.
Also, the chest fur on both of them remind me a little bit of feathers.
Otherwise, everything is superb. Love the atmosphere and their expressions the most, they are just lovely ^^

Actually, a lot of this picture looks familiar :v Awesome job, always love what you do with your characters eyes. Really love that comfy chilling with your bf feel on a typical day, and it shows real well here C:
