Oh dear, I had so much fun designing this with Nyaasu. A sequel of sorts to this pic (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5571539/), featuring Skyler in what he'd be wearing if he were either designed by Tetsuya Nomura or starring in a Final Fantasy or Kingdom Hearts game (they ARE two different things, people!).
And oh my god, this was ridiculously fun. As someone who is really used to designing outfits and costumes that actually flow and work,it was fun to design something as dysfunctional as a Nomura-style outfit. A dozen straps, random armor, goggles, a flame red short-sleeved jacket… oh, this was so much fun!
Though, even then, I couldn't help but justify almost every. Single. Piece. Of this outfit. Seriously. There's a story for each part or at least a justification for why it's there. The overall concept was, what if a JRPG character was actually shown to be wearing the armor they've got equipped (seriously, that bugged me about KH/FF, especially FFXII when I played it). Just as an example, Sky's vest is one of several elemental-themed outfits that offer additional protection/amplification against/for certain elemental spells, while the steampun-style goggles actively scan enemies and allies and project information about overall health, energy levels, strategic weaknesses, and the like. I also commented to Nyaasu that if I started doing the rough colors myself, by the time I was done it would all be matching and flowing and not clash this bad.
Now, for the next version of this outfit, I propose dual-wielding chaingunkeyblades, and a second pair of goggles that can be zippered together with the first.

KH/FF is © to SquareEnix and Disney
PS: Besides the obvious KH/FF references, there's at least a reference to two other games (one possibly unintentional on Nyaasu's part) and one anime.
EDIT: Original here

Heh, never thought of that. No: he's wearing the Gold Gauntlet from Ocarina of Time on his left hand (intentional) and he has one of Ezio's vambraces on his right arm (unintentional, I think).
But definitely the Tamers reference. Tamers was one of my favorite shows when I was younger.
