So, this came out of freakin' nowhere... I posted it here instead of my other account because this is my random stuff account, and this is random. I can't say that enough, this is freakin' random, my mind just decided I needed a pony character design.
When I'm at work my mind is constantly working on ideas and concepts, it doesn't seem to matter where it starts, and once I start working on something my mind doesn't stop, even if I want it too. Over the course of a few days this dude developed, a back story, a personality, and then a story line that I could probably write if I could be arsed to write anything lately.
This guy is big, like stupid big, for you people knowledgeable in MLP he's taller than an average royal guard, which are already pretty big. He's got so much bulk he's asked quite often if he's part bull, which pisses him off.
Back story here, read on only if interested:
Atlas started out as a navigator and cartographer for an exploratory airship run by a university. The project was shut down to cut budgets, and he was given money to find a place to live and a new job. Instead he traveled around and ended up in a big city, getting caught up with the local mafia when they took him on as hired muscle.
He's generally easy going and doesn't believe in killing, and for the most part they respected that, he was never asked to kill. Then one day it all went wrong, he was asked to "extract" some money from a young colt, only in his teens. He got the money no problem, and told the kid to stay away from the mafia, not to get caught up in it like he did. Then he gave the kid a shove and he stumbled back onto the street, right in front of a bus.
Atlas turned himself in the same day, and was sentenced to twelve years in prison, but he only served two before the northern boarder guard came looking for him. It's a job no free pony wants to do, considering the conditions, and it was an opportunity for him to make up for what he'd done by serving his country (not that he had a choice, since it's conscription). Most of the northern guard are criminals that only had what could be considered minor offenses in relative terms. So no serial killers or rapists get out of jail. Once they serve their term (usually based on a portion of their original sentencing) they are free to go.
He served in the boarder guard for two more years, then during an attack on his base he put himself on the front lines, ready to die so his fellow guards could make a retreat. It turned out to be a bit extreme for the situation, and he managed to retreat with them, but it earned him a promotion, a rare opportunity for a conscripted felon, but not unheard of either.
That landed him in his current posting, an inner states guard, working under the royal guard itself, though not officially part of them.
And that's where the story concept starts, taking him through an assassination plot involving time travel and concepts of that nature. Through it he know's he's going to die, a message from the future told him so, and there's nothing he can do but complete his mission and accept his fate. However, if he fails his mission, the whole world, not just his country, could fall. So his name, and his mark are somewhat symbolic despite their original meanings. He's almost literally carrying the fate of the world on his shoulders.
Holy shit I typed all that for a pony picture... more so I thought of it in the first place!
