That's a REALLY good idea. I'm so terrible with backgrounds, I was planning on a forest but that sounds SO much better!

How about foliage (since she's in a tree) with a gap in the leaves showing the sunset?

that is a good idea, too. Maybe sillouettes (autocorrect does NOT tell me how to spell this word, lol) of trees, and the gap with the sunset.

That would be very cool. And Featherjinxer's idea of early twilight stars is really cool too. OMG yay brainstorms (I don't hang out with many artists IRL.. can you tell? LOL)

thank you so much for mentioning that. Those things were painstaking--I took it out on my poor boyfriend lol. I wanted to just rip the computer out of its socket and throw it out the window I was so mad at my idea of "CURLS! LOTS and LOTS of curls!"

I think it was worth it though, in the end <3 <3

I disagree--look at your art! It's SO smooth--sketch AND full colored pieces! And you are amazing at sketching. I wish I didnt suck at sketching!

if I'm not mistaken, Last Unicorn, right? Man I havent read that book in FOREVER (nor seen the movie in a while). I squealed about a year ago when I found the DVD at Target. Bought it, and it's still in its wrapper! I'm disappointed in myself!

Background are a weakness for me as well so I'm not help. I just wanted to say how this looks simply gorgeous so far, I can't wait to see it finished. <3 The way you did her curls/ringlets compliment the linework on the tree so well.

Traditional background colors like blues and whites is always an idea, but for some reason with how this image looks I think going with some kind of warm color scheme my be better, something like orange and reds.
