spectra-suitingI had a great time at the Sakura Sunday festival in Philly. All the cherry blossom blooms were gone thanks to the super-early spring, but the weather was gorgeous!
My group came across Verbena and Spectra and took the chance for some photos. Don't they look great?
I had left my horns and tail home since it was supposed to rain, and neither are exactly waterproof... I should have brought them! The rain stopped before we got there. I'll be adding an overskirt and some trim to my costume, and getting better bracers. You can't see them here but I just have some simple pleather ones on; I'll be getting either custom leather bracers or making some from the sable hide I have. The costume will be completed with a black wig and my custom-made horns, circlet, and tail. Eventually I'll be getting/making wings and a partial to go with it, when time and budget allow.

They held it at the Horticultural Center on Montgomery Drive. I've been going for the last three years, it's a lot of fun with martial arts demos, taiko drumming, and a lot of vendors. It's also something of a miniature anime/cosplay convention, but not quite :3 There's a costuming contest and about a third of the people there are usually in costume. It isn't exactly a furry venue, but there were at least half a dozen of us mixed in among the cosplayers that I saw - there were probably more. I was more recognized for a Ren Faire styled outfit since my tail was at home XD

I found out about the festival about four years ago through an actor friend, she said I could win a free car there, so I chose this cherry blossom festival over the DC one. But they stopped giving away free cars ;_; It's still tons of fun though, we go for Shofuso (the Japanese house and garden) and the Tamagawa Taiko drummers from Japan. <3 them. I got video of the drummers, may upload that to youtube ^x^
