A commission for
tezzereth who wanted to be surprised by the original in the mail :)
Tezzereth the Magus is ambushed, surrounded by creatures of darkness, but he doesn't let that ruin his day. Ready to fling a fireball at his attackers, he's got more than one type of energy to rely on, as well as the scimitar on his hip.
Ink and brush, which I haven't used much and was super fun to get back to, and of course markers for the colours, on 11"x14" Bristol.

Let's see...Magus means he had to take both Energy Substitution and Energy Admixture to be able to do that. On a fireball spell, that would...huh. I don't think that works. Energy Admixture uses a spell slot four levels higher than the spell slot it would normally use, and Magus only has spell slots up to sixth-DAMMIT, am I actually trying to analyze rules on this picture? x.x
Well, the Magus of Pathfinder. It's stated in my character description I give to those for commissions, but that isn't needed for posting =) I am not sure how close it is to the DnD 3.5 version as I only have the 3 core books for that, while I have all the core books for pathfinder, heh heh.
He doesn't do any spell combining. Just think of it as fireball being cast and a lightning bolt being charged for a Quickened spell. Magus of Pathfinder gain an ability that can let them cast one spell per day quickened without using a higher spell slot once per day when they are level 15. And what better way to do that a fireball and lightning bolt? Two fireballs?
But for good art, things don't need a reason =)

...I know Pathfinder. I was also referring to Complete Arcane from 3.5, as Pathfinder is "mostly compatible". Fire+Electric Fireball spell is possible with Energy Admixture, a metamagic feat from Complete Arcane. It raises the spell slot used by four, but Magus only has six levels of spells, unlike wizard/sorcerer, in exchange for more weapon and armor proficiency and +3/4 BAB instead of +1/2.
I gobble up facts for the games I play like PacMan gobbles pellets.

DnD just comes out with too many big books for me to keep up with in buying. Pathfinder has only been doing one or two a a year, which makes getting them all really easy to do.
I do like Pathfinder, but I wish the Monk and Rogue were still not so behind compared to others, and some of the Prestige classes are still kinda like "Uh, who is ever going to take that?". Sure, there is roleplaying, but some of them are so weak that you're going to be gimped compared to the rest of the party. I like roleplaying more than anything, but I don't want to be that body that has to be dragged out of the dungeon every time =)

Considering I'm running a "Mistfinder" game (Ravenloft with Pathfinder rules) and playing an air-elemental bloodline sorcerer in another, so role play is heavy in the games I play in. As for the Monk, their kind of more of a tank than anything else. The only reason I killed the one in my game was by rolling a 20 and pulling a decapitation card from my critical hit deck. And even then, he could have saved himself with a DC 20 Fort save.
As for Rogue, if they can get their sneak attack damage, they're not that gimped. As for Prestige classes? It's more that the core classes are way stronger than in older D&D from what I've seen than anything else.

And again, thank you so much, I really like it! I have linked it to a few friends. Fur or not, they have all said it was pretty sweet, and even a few awesome out there too, heh heh. One of the non furs went gaga when I said what you've worked on. He owns all of the comics for Gargoyles and the entire show on DVD. Cept Chronicles =p
Of course, now that I am not brain dead tired, I was able to look at it a bit closely and seems like it got bent in the mail a little bit two or three times, and a corner got flayed. But in a picture frame, won't be seeing that, so it's all good =) Looks like the backing gave way in shipping.

I'm happy the damage won't be visible in the frame, but I am upset that it did get damaged. Next time I ship this big, I'll double-cardboard it.
Thanks so much for commissioning it! It was a whole lot of fun, and keeping it under wraps until you received it was haaaaard!

But such pleasant surprises are always a good thing though!
Something a little stiffer than cardboard I think. There is a firm crease on the backside of where it gave, so I am sure it was just from getting moved around. Either way though, you gotta look at it for a few moments before you really notice, and it doesn't go near the middle over the kitty, so it's all good =)
Thanks again!

Well, later down the road, maybe I'll commission the aftermath and pick it up a con or pay extra so that can be shipped in a box? And/or commission a redo so you can do any thing you might have wanted to do but coulda forgot =)
I love it so much though!
Mayble I can try to unwrinkled a corner or something, or bury it in a stack of pathfinder books to get the bend out at least. Don't think the corner damage is goign to be fixable though >.<
