I never could get the hang of "folded over" feathers, is there some trick/advice for it that you could share with me? ^^
whether facing you, or from behind like is pictured here.
also, your art is fabulous, i've been watching you forever it seems, and i dont think i've ever bothered to say hi. T.T
I apologize for that, Hi, I'm Pete, and I adore your art, its absolutely stunning.

I know what you mean, that's one of the things that took me forever to get, and I'm still pretty new at. It's difficult to explain without a visual reference as well... I recommend using references of real birds to get the hang of it. I usually do when they're not working out for me haha. Here's some awesome tutorials on bird wings in general, but they might have something you will find helpful in them: http://fav.me/d2dt174 http://fav.me/d2ht4et (this one helped me tons, I still go back and look at it at times if I'm not getting something). Another little piece of advice that I can try to add (if I can word this right) is that usually when the wings are folded, you see the feathers biggest at the base of the wing near the body, and then they seem to get shorter along the curve due to you not seeing the whole feather, since now the wing is starting to fold back, and those feathers are now gradually going to only be visible on the opposite side of the wing, which we can't see. The area between the base feathers and larger folded feathers at the tip of the wing is usually the thinnest area of the wing in the picture. As for the longest, folded feathers... Hmm, as one of the tutorials said, wings are basically like arms, but extended, so if you don't have access to a photo of a real bird, use your hand/fingers for a bit of a reference. If you flatten your thumb against the side of your hand, and move your fingers forward and angle your hand a certain way, it should look very similar to hos the feathers are in this picture. Just replace the fingers with larger feathers, and it should work out. xD
Sorry, I'm not very good with explaining things, but I hope you found this helpful a bit. c:
Thank you so much!
And don't worry about it, thanks for stopping by and saying hi now. Better late than never, right? :'D
