Right now these are the ones I usually use: http://www.dickblick.com/products/p.....irrel-brushes/ They pick up paint and water really nicely. They're really not that pricey (I only have a 1/4" square wash, a 6 round and a 2 round), but they are much better than, say, the store brand ones from hobby lobby or something. XD
If you are interesting in trying pans you can do what I did and use your tube paints to fill empty half or whole pans on your own. It takes anywhere from a few days to a couple weeks for them to dry out fully, though. And some brands won't work for pans because they contain honey in the binder. Winsor & Newton's paints work but I haven't really tried it other brands.
Oh I see. I'm not sure how that brand would fare, since it's lower quality paint... Might have issues with not getting enough pigment upon reconstitution. I've tried drying both student-grade (cotman watercolors) and artist grade (regular W&N) and I find that it can depend on the color, but in general the student-grade ones don't fare as well in the pans. *shrugs*
well, my water color skills probably aren't worth professional grade paint yet. XD
when it comes to Oils yeah, I've worked with them enough to know what I'm sacrificing if I'm getting diffrent quality stuff. but I don't have that for watercolor yet.
I still have a large water color block I need to finish up.
