Are they magic mushrooms?
*Rabbit eats one, and grows much taller...

*Rabbit also starts wearing overalls, and develops a desire to do plumbing work and save the mushroom kingdom with my brother Luigi*
So, what ya gonna draw next? Fire-flowers? Bowsers? Poopa Troopas?

Actually, I think this was at least partially inspired by that sequence with the dancing mushrooms in Disney's old movie Fantasia.
