I'm sorry this chapter took so long to complete. I had to do some 'retooling' of a few characters, plus I've had other projects taking up my time. The next few chapters shouldn't take nearly as long. I hope.

and so you got the blocking of a head attack exactly right... kudos... so many people just pretend to the hack and slash without ever understanding the geometry of what is happening. I used to refer to the head parry as the iron umbrella where the blow is deflected like rain, letting the force dissipate itself down the length of the blade. (you're making me remember things - it's been a long time)
you're such a good writer Wire... we must surely figure out what to do with you...
*gives him a really big hug...

"The iron umbrella". Wow. Too bad Vikings didn't have umbrellas or I'd alter the text to include that phrase. I have a friend at work who used to be very much into martial arts and showed me a few simple things about using sticks for attack and defense. I took those ideas and kind of converted them into sword ideas. I hoped they would pass muster, but I honestly forgot your ability to swing true steel or I would have asked you for advice.
Thanks for the kind words and the fave. Hope you had an elegant and invigorating Sunday!

workaday Sunday Wire... I don't want to go back to work tomorrow...
stick work and sword work is exactly the same, much as boxing, karate, and the such is all the same - the end desire is what is different. If you look at the history of the European sword (Vikings included) you will find they were all used just a bit differently based upon their design and period of history. If you get a chance, watch a movie called 'The Thirteenth Warrior' - Viking and very good.
*hugs...
