This is evidence of how I work best when I'm totally not trying.
I began this in as an attempt to fiddle around with drawing hats. I liked the hat (and face) so much, I decided to add a layer and try out something I was thinking might help me with my inking.
I like the final inks so much I figured 'What the hell', and added ANOTHER few layers to try out an idea I'd had for improving my colors.
About an hour and many layers later I had this 'doodle'.

Still nice and clean after all that 'fiddling around', too! Ah, the wonders of digital art ^^
Colors looking fine, IMO, and a sweet expression.
Trust that was a good confidence builder, all-round.
It built a lot of confidence up, but it failed to interrupt the time/space vortex to allow me more time to take advantage of said confidence. Le sigh.
Time to demand a four-day week, for art's sake?
