My first dipper character. His name is Hugh Dipper. He was born on March 8, 1962 in Northville, Michigan (his hometown). He became certified diver at the age of 15. On April 29, 1993, Hugh Dipper went scuba diving in the Carribean with Flint the Otter, Edmond the Oriole and 5 other scuba divers. Flint the Otter noticed that Hugh was in trouble. Hugh was running out of air. Flint the Otter recorded it on camera, and Edmond the Oriole rescued him. When Edmond brought Hugh to the surface, the scuba diving dipper was not breathing. He was sent to a hostipal in Miami, Florida. Hugh's family members wished to let him survive, but it was too late. He died 6 hours after the scuba diving accident the same day at the age of 31. He is now buried in Boca Raton, Florida.

What happened to cause Hugh to run out of air, did he have malfunctioning equipment or was he careless and did not watch his gauges? Did his friends rush him too quickly to the surface? This story could be really good about pointing out how a diver could prevent such an accident. Flint should have stopped filming and helped.
Diving accidents do happen(worst Ive heard of is 3 divers being lost on one trip off the Canary islands) but the equipment is made to fail so that we survive, diving with buddies also helps in case we run out of air. They teach us this. In fact during my training at the bottom of a 15ft pool one dive master actually shut off my tank so I would know what it was like, I was to signal to the other I was our of air and get their octopus regulator.
