I'm a BattleTech fan. I admit it. I love the designs, the Locust, the Vulture, the Madcat, the Loki, Battlemaster, the bastardly little Elementals. My bro played the games (paper, pen) while I played all the Mechwarrior games (3 being awesomest of the awesome). I wish he still had them, he used to have some HUGE blueprints of the some of the mechs.
Anywho, Good ol'
brokenwing and I oc'd a little bit, and I drew a Madcat obliterating some poor soul. w00 for reflective light.

actually the marauder and the warhammer were licensed, not 'stolen'. When the license term came up Harmony Gold outright refused to renew the license term. In that single blow they killed the marauder, the warhammer and the entire LAM(Land-Air Mech) portion of the game rules.
At the tournament level games we were inner sphere merc's, known as the Furious Angels.
When out of tournaments our guise to practice against normal clans and the like, we were more commonly referred to as CCR. CapCom Rising, that is.
In the tournament leagues we played in we were all forced to start with inner sphere equipment. We had to gradually gain our clan gear.. Which we did :P We had alot of skill in the unit and ended up, in our little alternate universe, single handedly destroying Clan Ghost Bear XD

Sounds like fun. Every other week Explorer Corps got hosed by pirates or clanners, and we were more renowned for making people lose insane amounts of money on their planetary assaults than actualy winning anything. I think we won about 45% of our engagements... invariably... those tended to be recon missions we'd win. I unfortunately never got into league play in old MW4 though, and with the community expansion packs now a requirement of league play, I cannot any more... too much of a headache and not enough new blood.
we played in tournaments IRL lol
We won about 70% of the games we played. Generally straight up assaults
When it came to the light mechs, if I wasn't in a raven and my friend wasn't in his cougar we wouldn't win.
My claim of fame was taking out one of the top 10 of the league we were in with a Raven while he was in an assault mech XD
That was beautiful

the maddog is a 60ton midline support mech known as the "vulture" in stravag terms. the Mad cat(aka Timberwolf) is a 75ton frontline mech that is so nasty the innersphere call it an assault mech.
Although a Maddog can toss in that needed firepower at the last second and is a nasty piece of work in skilled hands(ie, you can slaughter a Zeus or an argus and be looking for leftovers) it just cannot stand up to a timberwolf with almost twice the armor plating and firepower.

I play Battletech (the tabletop) and the Mechwarrior games by Activision and Micrprose. And its sad that the Marauder was taken off, but at least he was a stolen design from Robotech (or was ist the original Macross anime?).
But the Mad Cat is my alltime favourite. If you ever played Mechcommander I+II, then you know what a squad of three Mad Cats can do.^^

I loved the second MechCommander. Great game. :) And the Marauder was from Robotech, you're correct. The Officers Battle Pod, as were the Warhammers, which were Destroids.
I'd love to get into the tabletop game, but I don't know anyone else locally who would play it with me. :(

"MadCat! Jaguar MadCat! ... Dammit, sir, he's got us ranged!"
I loved pounding enemy Mechs from long range with this baby. I joined the BattleTech universe after playing MW3 at a friend's place. I hated MW4, and MW2 didn't play very well on my computer. That's what you get for playing a DOS game under Win98.

Hehehe...if you think the EBA (Elemental Battle Armor...aka "Toad") is a buggar...you've never met the Age of Destruction's Ravager BA. :P
That point aside...that's a nice picy of the Timber Wolf (Mad Cat to you IS types).
...now if I had time, I'd personally try the Savage Wolf (Mad Cat Mk IV)...

Mad Cat is a Mech too agresive and is the most famous mech of all the serie, however, I prefer the Atlas, 100 tons of steel and dead! or the... I don´t know the new name, but on Mechwarrior 2 is Warhawk (ahh, good memories), the clans, the houses. Good, we need a movie now!!!
