Shard's first couple of jobs out in the world weren't very well thought out or honorable. he was a bit of a bounty hunter and mercenary before he found out just how much money his own hide would garner someone. One of his jobs happened to be to bring down a lycanthrope. Suffice to say, this didn't go as he expected it to.
