This was an older drawing I did where I was planning on telling the story of a little Vulpimorph who goes to sea as a Mechanic's Helper and works in the engine room of a small freighter. This was also one of my first attempts to draw the interior of an Engine Room, featuring the massive Triple Expansion engine working away. The little Fox got wailaid on his way to the Engine room as he tried to fix a balky transfer pump. This did not please the Elder, Ursine Chief too much.

Believe it or not, the Triple Expansion Engine in the Jeremiyah O' Brian was filmed for some of the engine room scenes in James Cameron's "Titanic." The JOB's Engine worked out to be 1/3 scale to the Titanic's, and so scale piping and catwalks were added to enhance the effect. One story goes that the props were made out of plastic and PVC pipe, and as the day wore on and the engine room grew hotter and hotter, things started to warp and melt.
