Capacity: Varies, belt fed. Usually equipped with a 200 round belt box
Muzzle Velocity: 850 m/sec
Accuracy: 6 MOA
Effective Range: 950 yards (868 m)
Maximum Range: 1,250 (1,143 m)
Action: Kalashnikov long stroke gas piston combined with Vorgrimler roller delayed bolt carrier assembly. Fully automatic only, 850 rounds per minute
The first two entrants into the machinegun class of weapons by Volkov Iron Works, the C32 and the C33 combine the long stroke gas piston mechanism of the legendary AK47 with the roller delayed bolt carrier mechanism of the G3, albeit with a number of changes for the parts to function better together and to better suit the need for the infantry fire support role.
The C32 is chambered in 6.8x43mm, thus allowing it to serve in the Squad Automatic Weapon role, much like the Mk. 46 or M249, though with much greater hitting power due to its larger, heavier round. Like the aforementioned machineguns, the C32 has been built on a compact, shorter than usual frame for greater maneuverability in the tight confines of urban combat. Forged from titanium carbide alloy, it is lighter than its predecessors though due to being a true machinegun, its still a good deal heavier than regular infantry weapons like assault rifles.
Feed is through a disintegrating metal belt and said belt can either be left "loose", feeding in like machineguns of old, or a 200 round belt box can be inserted into a special fitting mount on the bottom of the receiver, keeping the rounds out of the elements as well as keeping the overall weapon compact. The barrel is quick detachable, and features a built in carrying handle that can be used both to carry the machinegun about the battlefield as well as assist in removing a hot barrel for change-outs.
Charging the C32 is by way of a sphere shaped charging handle, reminiscent of a bolt action rifle's handle located on the right hand side of the receiver. The charging handle was intentionally made a bit larger than usual to make it easier to grab hold of, a feature especially useful for clearing jams or cocking after reloading in the middle of a firefight. The firing mechanism, as mentioned before, is a combination of two legendary designs. The C32 is gas piston operated and features a Kalashnikov pattern long stroke gas piston, although it "turned upside down", that is, it runs along the bottom of the barrel rather than along the top. This piston assembly is connected to a G3 pattern roller delayed bolt carrier assembly which rides along a set of two channels machined into the receiver and both serve as the machinegun's lock mechanism and its method of recocking and firing.
Standard sights are basic Kalashnikov pattern sights, calibrated for 6.8mm, with the rear sight adjustable for both windage and elevation. For additional sighting mechanisms, the top of the receiver is pre-drilled and tapped at the factory for adding a Mil-Std M1913 accessory rail and subsequently any number of sights and optics. Most commonly, red dot sights and nightvision optics are the add-ons of choice.
For added durability and battlefield longevity, the barrel is chrome lined allowing for longer intervals between cleaning while the titanium carbide alloy the entire machinegun is made from allows for much higher corrosion resistance. As is befitting of its role as a fire support weapon, the C32 is fully automatic firing only. The chrome lined, stainless steel barrel is forged specifically for handling higher than normal temperatures, thus allowing for sustained rapid fire and long burst firing for greater durations than is usual for infantry machineguns. When changing the barrel becomes necessary, the built in carry handle allows the gunner to pull the barrel without burning himself, while quick detach mounts allow the barrel to be changed out in seconds.
The C33 machinegun is effectively the same weapon, just longer and a bit heavier so as to accomodate the larger 7.62x51mm round and mounts a longer barrel for greater range. The rate of fire is slightly lower, however it compensates with greater hitting power and longer range. A special feature, exclusive to the C33 is the ability to adapt to pintle mounts. For this, a pintle adapter is fitted in place of the bipod, while a set of spade grips replace the stock and pistol grip, allowing it to be fitted to a variety of military vehicles and even a tripod on the ground.
