As an owner of both brands, i can say their both equally good in their own right. Neither have ever let me down.
Nothing beats an old ford! - 1987 F150
But GMC's are tough as rocks- 1985 K1500
back in the 80's it was a battle for brand superiority, each manufacturer wanted to be known for the toughest and most reliable trucks around. So they all up'ed their game. Producing tank like vehicles. I can sit on the hood/ roof of my GMC, without it denting in... Try that with a newer car and youll be in for a costly body repair.
Problem with newer models is, their focus was lost, its now shifted to FUEL economy. New trucks are nowhere near as good as the old ones.
Is that your truck?

To be honest, I'm not a big fan of that grill or body design. I am more to the liking of - http://imganuncios.mitula.net/1997_.....4781002284.jpg - but that's just me.
