Recently, I asked RayJones if he could do a little Foxglove drawing for me. I expected a sketch. A quick doodle! Instead, he sends me the original of this gorgeously painted portrait of the lovely bat in question, reposing with a sultry look on her muzzle and really cute ears. He also sent me some stuff on disk, among them a treasure trove of Gadget screenshots. As I was browsing them, I noticed that the way I've been drawing her varies quite a bit from how the Disney animators did. I'm not saying I like their way better (especially since they gave her a black nose on more than one occasion! Arrgh!), but I was curious how close I could force my style to resemble theirs. So, here ya go. Screenshot-accurate colors too. BTW, the background color is Dale's-fur brown.

One thing tho: Her hands seem a bit...well, interesting. What is she doing with her right hand? Looks like a low block straight out of tae kwon do to me. Maybe it's just my eyes, but the hands look different than usual.

No, you are correct. I fucked her hands up quite severely. My idea for the pose is that she's walking to the right, then something happens behind her that makes her whirl around in surprise. Maybe Dale has just touched the button she told him under no circumstances to touch.
Thanks! I actually had to tweak the screenshot's colors quite a bit. If you've ever used one for reference, you know that you try to sample a color that looks nice 'n bright, then the actual sample turns out way too dull and dark. *shrugs* I think I added +20 to the brightness of each color, or something similar. And for the lines, I just selected whatever color they bordered, reduced the darkness to the same level for each, and used the fill tool.
