Here is the artwork for the "Pi" character card we did for the Nordguard Card Game. (More information on the game can be found here!)
The original is small, about 3×4, in watercolor and acrylic.
Over the years, a couple people have asked where Pi got her name. Pi is actually a nick name (her real name comes up in the next book, actually…) There’s two stories behind how she got the nickname–one, being that she’s black and white and it’s short for piebald. The other is a slightly longer story from her days of basic training. In searching for an object buried in the snow, she stumbled and tripped, landing directly on the target. She set a new record time of 3.14, hence, the nickname “Pi.”
We’ve been getting a lot of character specific questions, usually in the chat during LiveStreams. We thought it would be fun to set up an “Ask the Nordguard” page! You can ask a character from the comic a question. When we have a bit of free time, or feel like sketching something a little less serious, we’ll respond to one or two of the questions in a quick and sketchy fashion.
So, check it out, and if you have a question for one of the characters--ask away!

I'm no gun expert, but I thought a long barrel gun was for accuracy?
I was given a .22 Ruger as a gift and I was told the long barrel was mainly used for target practice. I would think in the arctic tundra, a gun would be used mainly for self-defense and the long-barrel would be unwieldy.

I'm a gun-bunny (well, actually I'm a gun-Kitty, but you get the idea)
Longer barrels serve two purposes.
first is accuracy, longer barrel better accuracy
Second is Range, longer barrel, longer range (up to a point)
Third is longer barrel, higher velocity, but again only up to a certain point. if the barrel is Too Long then you burn all the propellant before the bullet gets out of the barrel and the friction starts to Slow the bullet. that's called Powder Underburn. (ever see the flash out of a handgun? that's Powder Overburn) the trick is finding enough barrel to have the accuracy you want, without wasting too much potential energy by releasing the powder Too Soon, or Too Late.
an example. I own a Colt 1911a1 .45acp handgun. I can get a Carbine length barrel for it (16inches). the .45acp doesn't have Quite enough powder to make it all the way out of the barrel without slowing down, but it'd Still be going faster than out of the 5.5inch barrel that the pistol usually has. and a longer barrel gives better accuracy and longer range.
as far as Range goes. Out on the tundra you want to engage a target as FAR away from you as possible. the closer a target gets the more danger YOU are in. which is why the military uses Snipers instead of Ninja's.
