Kaylink said I'd be a deer if I were a hoofed animal.
Not nearly as cool as a mule, but I did have fun writing her a backstory as someone's nervous as fuck pet and giving her antlers despite her being female. Apparently, that happens sometimes. Yey.

Yep fairly frequently antler baring does are found in the red deer, white tail deer, and mule deer species. Though Females with antlers tend to have small and/or deformed versions of their male counterparts. Also male deer grow their antlers in a fuzzy skin called velvet that sheds off after the bases of each antler locks off the blood flow, once the velvet is scrapped and scratched off the buck is left with the sleek and sharp pair of antlers we're all used to seeing. Late in the season bucks shed their antlers and in early spring they grow back. Females that have antlers don't show an antler cycle and tend to have a velvet covered rack their entire life. Females with antlers also tend to have sexual reproduction issues, in fact, the more developed the antlers the more prominent the reproductive issues.
....sorry I nerded out
Love the character regardless. Nice take on the species :D

Well some do. I did research this. x3
My sources tell me that deer with at least one intact testicle often go through the complete antler cycle. Most females with antlers don't, and only display antlers in the velvet stage, but some do, particularly in the case of having one internal testicle on one side and one ovary on the other. Of course, these deer are totally reproductively non-functional, but if you've seen anything about my fursona, you should've seen by now that she is almost always reproductionively non-functional in all of her forms pretty much. x3 So I did that on purpose.
Gave her nice shiny antlers too, despite the deformed manner most does display antlers, though only for aesthetic reasons. I wanted people (all people, not just animal people) to understand what they were and not be dumbstruck with a "what the fuck is that shit" sensation when viewing her. That and I fucking love deer antlers. <3
Anyway, thanks for the comment Tealie. :3 Glad to know someone actually knows a thing or two about animals, particularly deer.

Yep, research is good, figured you had your bases covered if you drew her this way. And yeah, this suits your taste I just don't make blatent and overly assuming comments like, "lol you picked the freak deer with one nut durrrr hurrr"
And yes, I would have gone clean antlers too. Even if it was impossible to explain, a simple "because I can so bleh" would be enough for me.

Haha, Loaf's collar on your masculine doe; flattering. I think your minor disagreement when drawing this leaked into the deer's spazzy expression. But it is rather nice seeing a different sort of animal drawn by you for a change. Not saying I dislike the canines either, but difference every once in a while is a plus.
Wouldn't mind seeing a donkey-Sol though. Someday.
