Azha and Hanssie
When Azha and Hannsie first meet she tells him how she is the princess, on a quest, a dragon killed her horse and she lost her clothes and armor, etc. Hannsies farm has just been sacked and burned to the ground by boarder raiders - he's now homeless and broke....This crazy girl snaps him out of his self-pity....
Sort of like Pancho Sanchez to Don Quixote, or the movie "They Might Be Giants" (the band of same name took name from movie)....
This was practice in new software doing scan and clean.
There will eventually be a colour version.......
In the original drawing Azha's legs were a little too short...i elongated her legs here digitally....too much?
Pencils on both and ink on Azha from around 1995 - the rest was finished March/April 2012.
8 1/2 x 11 inches Sakura and Steadtler pens

She does explain to him that it's an under garment to which padding for her armor attaches....the armor 'the dragon' ran off with....uh-huh....

Hannsie has just had a few bad days - the farm he grew-up on has been over run by raiders, everyone ran or was slaughtered, it was burned down, he's not really sure where he is near the boarder and the war, and here's some crazy girl more lost and hopeless than him - won't last a day dressed like that....
Thinks she's the princess...her family were probably hacked to pieces before her eyes...And he's got nothing to help her with and everyone is scrambling to survive...But she clearly needs someone to take care of her, doesn't she?
It's only many many days later when he thinks she's "safe" with him on the road and she just seems sort of crazy, not traumatized that he starts to feel...well....But at that point he already thinks of himself as the crazy girl's guardian protector...sooo.....damn......
The story goes on from there..... ;>

I think the long legs work on that bunny. Really, long or short legs seem to work on rabbit-people, given the emphasis on either squat jumpers or long jumpers.
Her clothes are that impractical dash of 60s-90s fantasy metal that are lovably cheesy, that sword is stylish and interesting. Also, some big, plump boobs to gawk at. :>
Hannsie by contrast strikes a very 'straight man' figure with his clothing and genuine 'e.e' expression to her presence and story. So Don Quioxte does come to mind. Only the crazy partner is actually a hot fantasy chick of questionable validity and unquestionable voluptuousness.
Vury nice.

Hi! ^_^
Sorry it took me so long to get back....it's been a series of painful stumbles. i put the crashed comp aside as being too expensive to do data retrieval on for now. i had this other nicer comp available that just needed a new hard drive...and that turned into a money pit at the end of which it can't run any version of windows (hence none of my graphics software)...so i'm running Linix for the next month or three and can only scan and post line art - nothing is working correctly with my Wacom tablet and i'm not set-up to do traditional painting at the moment....
The good part is that i've gotten a lot of penciling and inking on new work done, have figured out the basic style or the Emma and Ash graphic novel and got a couple chapters thumb nailed, revised some story points...And i feel that my drawing has gotten back to where i left off when i "retired" from the animation biz about seven years ago...
The bad part is that i've spent the last two years studying painting, light effects, colour, etc, and i haven't been able to practice any of that for the last few months or for the next few months....(i'll be getting a new comp around then)...And i've missed chatting with everyone here...lot of solitary drawing time...
Been a mixed bag of something-or-other.... 0_o
What's been up with you?

Wow... sounds like you've had anything but fun. Linux is notoriously unfriendly for anything PNP.
I'm glad you're 'feeling it again'. That's something I never could recapture and didn't have the energy to attempt to recapture. I'll stick with my decayed skills and poor anatomy. :(
Hey, I'm always up to chat. Or email! Drop me a line sometime if you want.
I've been getting passed this last semester, working two jobs, and feeling constantly behind in everything I do. Not enough 'me time' and too much 'aaaaaarghhh!' going on. It's a phase, but it'll pass with enough effort and pushing through. It's nice to come on here and see some people I like still doing what they do best.

i don't think you can recapture any sort of art thingumy....it's like taking a fresh breath....let the baggage go and start fresh....
And there are times for it and times not for it. Work and school are extremely demanding, and school looms large - not an opportunity to dilute...Work will do that somewhat anyhow, it's juggling. And a phase. Sounds like you're doing well in the challenge of it all! ^_^

I'm keeping my head above water. :)
I'm hoping to get a little tablet time in over the course of this mini summer thing before school kicks in or the jobs break my spirit. I'm sure it'll be ok though. :)
I think if I do give it a try, not to even attempt my old pseudorealism thing, something long and drawn out would only kill me faster. On the other hand the short noir black and white thing I did more recently just felt unsatisfying and looked horribly amateur and painful. Ah, the feelings of want and the fear that the end result will be far less than I would hope it to be.

i think it's a good idea to split art time between "self-indulgent fun" and "trying to do something" - that is, between just noodling what is fun for you, nothing intended for anyone else to see (even if some later turns out good) and some time working on skills, some refined art (intended for public or not...)...
If you keep your art fun for yourself you'll keep drawing...
If you see some progress towards what you want to be able to do you will also keep going...
When i have time to draw i usually start with some ruff pencil sketches out of the blue, then refine some drawings in progress. Next i'll do a bit of inking, then colour work...then maybe back to doodling, looking at other folks art etc....
Keeps it fun so i keep on drawing everyday, it doesn't get to be a drag or worry or frustration. If you have fun, keep at it, you get better - it's automatic.
