So... here's something new!
I’ve grappled with wanting to change it for ages and never knowing what to change it to. Cat-version has existed in a bunch of different iterations since I was 14, so it’s about time, haha. REMEMBER WHEN? Those bygone days, eh FA?
But yeah. My cat fursona has, through the passage of time, just become tied up in stuff that isn't quite me anymore, a symbol of things I don't remember, and frankly some stuff I'd rather forget.
One of the things that I feel that fursonas often communicate well is body image, either positively or negatively. Our fursonas are a reflection of our thoughts about ourselves and our worldview and the environments we exist in. Positive body image has been a work-in-progress for me for a while, and this is part of it.
Not only that, but I no longer identify as male (and haven't for a long while). So as simple as it may be to just draw a "girlcat", the cat character was, to me, tied up in a time when I was still uncomfortable with my gender identity and uncomfortable in general and wasn't able to deal with it positively yet.
A lot has been tossed about in my life the past year or so, too, and I have felt less and less tethered to the old ways and my old character and I realized that I needed to change my whole approach. I've dropped out of school, moved out of my parent's house, and moved across the country all at once (all things I'm glad for, for certain), and have been struggling to recapture a solid voice after most of what I knew had been suddenly upended. Everything is different.
Time for a clean slate.

I am sooooo glad to see you post! For reals, your art is always a little ray of sunshine in my inbox. :3
Also, I am very glad to hear that you are starting to accept yourself. That is a long, difficult journey.
Anyway, it is nice also to see that you've made a lot of life changes, for the better/more exciting.
Selfishly, I hope this means more art. :) [but you doing better is nice, too]
