About time I got to introduce this fella. I might ink and color this someday. In the meantime, everyone, meet Connor Northington.
Having seen his first Digimon in his life when he was 8, Connor's goal was clear to him: one day he will have a Digimon of his own, and he will travel with it to Digital World. As Digimon were becoming more commonplace in the world, such travels did become more often and better organized, and some organizations were formed that were dedicated to travelling to the Digital World and studying it-some stunning results were discovered; while it was initially believed that Digital World is within the Earth's World Wide Web itself, it was proven to be untrue-it is a parallel universe where everything is digitized, to the last atom-the World Wide Web is merely serving as portal that connects to it. These organizations began training and recruiting future tamers, and thanks to his determination and ambition, Connor officially became one himself at the age of 18, receiving his own Digivice and being given a randomly chosen Digimon partner-he was paired up with a rather troublesome, but reliable and faithful Veemon, who he named Anette-while she initially thought the name was weird, she decided to stick to it. Together, they would travel to the Digital World, serving as guide and protection to scientists and tourists that would go there. Less agressive than Anette, Connor prefers to think first before acting, and often tries to teach his Digimon partner to do the same. While she often berates him for his peaceful, naive nature, she secretly respects him and is glad she has someone like him to put her in order (although she would prefer it if he was more agressive and assertive sometimes).
In this world and setting, anyone can be a tamer, but the pros, the ones trained from early age, are given special privileges and can earn quite a big income from their jobs and contracts-Connor and Anette are no exception, as they have a house of their own and anything they ever need, never having to worry about anything. But that doesn't make either of them spoiled (although Anette can be a bit bratty at times)-they value hard work more than anything, helped whenever and wherever needed, and have often donated their money to worthy causes.
The Digivice Connor uses is the latest in the Pro series-automatically updated firmware, various applications, constant connection to the web and Digital Monster database which can be updated with entries of any new Digimon they meet, locator, unique signature (which means only Connor and Anette can use the Digivice) and Digi-Card reader. These cards, when inserted in the slot on the side, allow Digivice to transfer the properties of inserted card into Anette, which helps her Digivolve or use some enhancements and boosts during battle. Since the technology is still being worked on and needs to be perfected, the effect of these cards isn't permanent-the Digivolution and boost effects don't last long-standard-issue Digivices can hold the Digivolution for 30 minutes, while Pro-issue Digivices can hold it up for several hours, unless the card is removed of course. The Digivice is durable enough to survive being ran over by a truck (or truck-sized Digimon) without damage, can withstand electrocution and resume operating normally, can work in extremely high or low temperatures, and is waterproof.
As mentioned above, the Digivice has some applications and many more can be added, among them games-Anette often snatches the Digivice to play said games when she's bored.

I was wondering why the digivice looked like a Game Boy, then you said there are game apps.
They do make a cute couple. Bet she loves messing with him when/if she digivoles into a flamedramon.
It actually makes sense for the digiworld to be a separate alternate world, and not some mutated virtual reality.
Good luck with all of your endeavors, and hope to see more of these two.
