A quick painting for a dear friend of mine done at the end of the summer in 2010. We both really want to work with marine mammals some day, and dolphins are just always awesome! The hole in the canvas was originally and accident, as it got punctured when I was moving back from college. But I never like to waste anything, so I made the hole more uniform and painted around it. I like the outcome! The dolphin designs are based on Inuit and Australian Aboriginal designs and color schemes. I didn't use any pictorial references and I just went with memory, so obviously some creative license was used. The hole in the center shows some trees in my backyard.
