A 98 ford F150 XLT I came across, it had a very tired 136k mile 4.2 V6 that blew a head gasket shortly after I got it, and after a 2 and a half month engine swap I installed a 'tuned' 5.0 V8 from a 98 explorer, the GT40p head engine bone stock from throttle body to oil pan, with a nice custom cold air intake and a fully tuned set of try-Y headers feeding into stock catalytic converters, with a shift kit in the transmission it makes for one very stout pickup truck, and with a planned 9.75" rearend on a 4link with discs and wider rubber, and possibly a stiffer spring in the front, it should be quite the beast. Its a very fun daily driver, and gets decent milage too, better than the underpowered 6 ever did =P
And I am fully aware that this year truck never had a 5.0 small block, my question to the engineers is "why not?" The modulars are too heavy for this wheelbase for anything other than towing and the 6 was terrible no matter how ya looked at it... I dunno just ranting =P
And if anyone wonders, that is the clip to the grandpa of this truck, a 1948 F1

And atleast this one does =P out of the holeshot its a lot quicker then my 06 3valve pony was, and tho the weight and aerodynamics take their toll at high speeds, its only about100lbs heavier, but I really need the 4.10s in it, at kinda luggs at 70-75 but smooths out over 80 lol then I'll really be putting some power to the ground ;) I also need the PCM reflashed to take advantage of the additional 500rpm I opened up with the headers and intake(I don't want to take the valve springs over 6k but 5500 is too low of a rev limiter for a GT40 head 5.0)
