So, I've been putting these round metal things on this brown leather thing all fucking day.
My fingers are bleeding.
I bought 1,000 metal things. According to Nauv's estimate I will have 300 left over after the vest is covered.
I will have no flesh on my finger bones at that point, so I will need the extra padding.

Same here. Back in 1986 I worked at a company that built floats for the Pasadena Rose Parade, and in three days I had to secure wires together (This was before the days of zip ties.) using "Hog Rings" with special pliers. It felt like I was going to lose the skin off my fingers and the use of my right hand.
I like the look of your project though. Keep at it, and take a break once in awhile.
