YUP. So I decided to give Kiso a fantasy overdrive form, and here are the results! I am well aware that there is some Okami resemblance here – it is a great inspiration!
I have a lot of fun working with the design elements here and tried to work in some unique ideas, since I’m already working with the tired old “canine with wings” cliché. The solar storm and narrow pointed wings (as opposed to enormous GLORIOUS GIANT EAGLE WINGS) are some ideas I rather liked, and I think the sharp agile wings suit Kiso a lot better.
This is not an alternate Kiso and it is definitely NOT a new Kiso. I repeat, THIS IS NOT A REPLACEMENT FOR REGULAR KISOTA. The “real deal” is still the scrappy little normal mutt who’s been around forever. This is more like an overdrive/Super-Saiyan fantasy form. XD
Sadly, I wasn’t able to fit in a frontal face view to show the markings on her face better, but you can check out her old ref ______ for that!
A lot of work went into this, and I think it’s kind of fun. It gives me something to play with when I feel like doing some fantasy stuff with Kiso, and there’s enough wiggle room here to come up with some neat stuff – what kinds of things can the fireball and the whirlwinds do?, etc.
I hope you guys enjoy this and don’t think it’s too dorky. Here’s some more information about all the things on the sheet, if you’re interested!!
NOTE – All the things on this ref are optional and can occur in any combination. Below is further information about how common each part of the form is.
MARKINGS
- The gold markings are the defining feature of the sun form and so, are almost always present in this form. They may be seen with no other sun-form traits present. Golden markings and feathers are commonly seen together without any other traits apparent. Markings are symmetrical.
AURA
- Aura is very light, mainly white, with occasional wisps of blue or gold. Also flamelike with wavy tendrils
SOLAR STORM
- The energy ball over her back is not always present. It is somewhere between a fireball and a miniature sun and is a constantly moving, swirling ball of firey solar energy. It can be calmer or wilder at different times and can even change color.
WHIRLWINDS
- Seen somewhat often. These act like tiny windstorms around her feet and appear as a blueish silver wind. They sometimes affect physical things, blowing grass around and such. They can also form into tiny twisters or storms, with tiny bolts of electricity and everything. Feet may also emanate solar energy and make plants spring up Okami-style.
FEATHERS
- A very common feature, almost always present. Usually worn behind ears and in tail. Shapes and colors vary wildly. As stated on ref, feathers are often from Kiso herself or friends.
SOLAR BREATH
- Used as needed. Releases heat and light. Can also make plants grow quickly, start fires, melt things, or burn.
EYE GLOW
- Eyes may glow gold or, less frequently, green at times. In this case, pupils and irises will be indistinguishable and eyes will glow faintly. Vision is not affected negatively.
WINGS
- Uncommonly seen! Appear as needed or desired. Wings are falconiforme, like falcons or kestrels – in other words, thin, long and pointed. Flight is extremely fast and agile as a consequence. Can swoop and dart with great agility but does not really soar. Gold on wingtips fades from bright gold to rich orange gold and is very shiny and shimmery.

Oh, yeah, I know, it's quite different. xD But I made sure that it was all... add-ons and nothing actually changing her. The base design here is just normal Kiso.
And thanks! The wings took me a really long time. I knew sort of what I wanted, but I was having trouble making it work. I had some very helpful critique, though. The final design here is much better than my original and manages to work in something I really wanted - the grey on the wings. The silver with with spots on the top of the wing is a pattern called pearling and it's what my beloved cockatiel's wings looked like. ;u;
