It is made out of a $1 note, but how much is my little paper humming-bird worth?
Sub-note: If my little paper bird IS worth more than the dollar it's made of, is origami the way to save the US economy? XD

Love it mate!, since i started my degree in visual arts/performing arts my view of physical/spacial art has swung around 180 degrees for the better... art that i used to see as 'weird and bazzar' i now gain alot from as it was the provoked thought that what i am perceiving as 'weird and bazzar' was the intended aim of the artist lol so yeh again, love it bud! keep up the good works :D
For the world that we have, would not be the same without wealth, more so without art.
The value of a dollar will always be that of a dollar, but the value of art is priceless beyond age.
Riches without beauty is worthless,
but beauty without wealth I would value more than that of life.

To be totally honest i'm not 100% sure where I learned that particular pattern (and a couple of other designs). I'm assuming I learned it while I was traveling but exactly where i'm not sure. I've never seen that humming bird pattern in any books or anything, which is a little odd.
I only realised I knew how to do a few patterns recently but since then i've been looking into origami more :)
There are a couple decent origami sites out there.
Here's two good places to start:
