I got to see a live, local performance of Chinese opera in the city I'm staying at, Yiwu. Although this is outside the city proper, in the "village" as they say. It was pretty awesome, although I don't know how much Westerners would like it! Very very loud, some very high-pitched voices, very stylistic. The costumes and skill of the actors was incredible though. I felt very lucky to see this, and hope to see another show this Saturday. They're playing it every day for 8 days during a festival that's going on right now. It's very traditional, and I feel pretty genuine, so I think I get to see a special part of China.
