She had been training for the athletics championship for months but she just could not seem to run fast enough. It upset her to think she would never win and secretly wished to be able to run as fast as…. a Greyhound for example.

All of a sudden a strange feeling washed over her. A small pain began in the base of her spine, her nose started to itch and her feet suddenly felt tight in her running shoes. Looking round she was amazed to see a short grey tail poking out of the top of her shorts.

Soon short grey hairs were growing from her skin. The fur quickly covered her arms and legs which were shifting into more animal shapes, her hands and feet becoming paws. She felt so good as the transformation continued. Her skull stretched out into a muzzle, tipped with a wet, black nose.

Her muscles shifted too, becoming leaner and stronger. Before long the runner was totally transformed into a greyhound, complete with her racing jersey. Her sleek grey pelt shone in the sun, and her bright eyes sparkled. She sat on her haunches, tail wagging happily, waiting for an excuse to race.
