I found this while cleaning up from bringing a bunch of my old supplies back to the USA recently and thought I'd post the comparison.
I do not know if too many people use bouncy balls anymore for eyes but I know even some people selling commissions still did until a year or so ago so this is show how they are not a good choice compared to the other options.
Because they yellow. Really badly. This bouncy ball half I bought because I was curious how it would work and stored it in a drawer indoors since then. It yellowed very quickly but I only reacessed it now.
On the left is a cabochon. made of acrylic, it is the exact same shape as the bouncy ball half (both are half spheres) and will never change.
This particular cabochon is smaller because it's what I had handy for the photo but you can buy them in any size here: http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/it.....&catid=441 I use from 1.5 to 2 depending on the application. But most things are make use the 1.75 inch.

There's Delvies Plastics, that you've already been told about, and I was looking for another place that has the 1 3/4" and found a place out of NYC that has them called Chelsea Plastic http://www.chelseaplastics.com/ball.....ns-cubes-disks I've emailed them, and they said the 1 3/4" are $8, which is a little less. I'll be ordering from them next week, so I'll make a review on LJ's fursuit if they're good to work with. Thank you for the heads up about the religious nonsense, I'd have flipped my shit if I got that crap.
Tap Plastics has them, but they only go as big as 1.5 inch - http://www.tapplastics.com/product/....._cabochons/139
daaaaamn thats yellow lol.
I made that tutorial a million years ago on bouncy balls, though in it I specifically say that acrylic is better. to the best of my knowledge the one suit's eyes I made with them are still fine.
another thing to consider, is a lot of the clear resin eyes being cast will get a yellow tinge to them over time, not as bad as this though.
I've been meaning to offer some clear urethane cast eyes for a while now, they're bubble free, will not crack, as hard as acrylic, and won't yellow...

My crow head, made by Breakspire, has bouncy-ball eyes. The head is at least five years old and the eyes haven't yellowed at all. I've had some clear rubber balls in stock for years and they haven't yellowed either. It must depend on the quality of the plastic.
The eyes on my Panic head, which has rubber ball eyes, have yellowed a bit, but that's only because I left the mask in direct sunlight for weeks on end.
Then again, resin/acrylic eyes are so easy to make or buy nowadays that bouncy-balls are pretty redundant now anyway.

You don't need them to be smooth. I printed out my eyes on computer paper, and then hot glued them to the bouncy ball halves. The thin layer of hot glue filled in the lumps on the cut part, so the print showed through clearly. Of course, I used the bouncy ball eyes on my Halloween costume. They are too crumbly (and will probably eventually yellow) to use on something that someone would be paying for.
