Well as an essay, it needs work to better legitimize itself. Not that I disagree with the message, in fact my usual viewpoint on life is that the more "ordinary" somebody is, the more of a jerk they're likely to be. A hetero, thin, middle class non-minority has in essence been taught their whole life that there's no reason for them to change or better themselves as they were born just right. So for me it's easy to see the children of same-sex couples all and all being more tolerant. I imagine it's easier when they're young. If you tell your elementary school peers that you have two moms or two dads, they'll probably say "really?" and want to know more, too young to fully be instilled with baseless hatred. Now when they hit highschool and middle school, that's where I would suggest keeping it between you and friends. At that age, that's where you learn to be a jerk but haven't learned to have a conscience. Though I should specify, my support is for actual gay people who are attracted to people of the same sex, not so much the furry-gay people around here, many of whom are "gay" in order to more effectively make friends.
You know, this has actually reminded me of a journal I should be writing write now, political in nature...

how would you recommend that I as you say legitimatize it, looking for critiques on this.
And my own mother came out as being gay during my third grade, I understand quite a bit what your saying. (although I tried to keep myself out of this particular essay)
thanks for reading though. =)

I just just think it could use expansion, maybe more citations, so far it seems largely opinionated. To make your argument especially potent, it has to look not so much like this is how you think, but rather, this is how you have to think because those are the facts. Again, I don't disagree with the message, and hardly anybody here would either but depending on where else you share it, it could use some more fine tuning.
thanks for giving me legitimate advice and critique, might I ask how it seems opinionated? (simply so I can figure out how to weed things out, me reading it myself makes it hard to distance my own feelings from it on occasion). I'm assuming that I should add more sources at the very least, no?
I don't mind whether or not you agree with the subject, I would actually prefer someone who doesn't to pick it apart so that I could build it to the strongest it can be.
Again, thanks for reading and commenting~

I could pick it apart if you wanted me too, I've argued enough backwards bigots to get an idea of how they think (the hard part would be doing it without quoting the bible, the beginning and end of their "logic"). First I'll say it's probably the lack of sources and direct quotes that make it seem more like what I'd call an educated opinion. Throw those in, and find ways to make it look like you're reporting the facts, rather than personally invested in them.
Now to clear my mind of any...thoughts.
*Now entering Right-wing mode for critical benefit, do not regard any of these thoughts as my own*
More children appear to be gay out of heterosexual relationships simply because there are more of them, and let's face it, homosexuality IS a choice, humans are meant to breed with the opposite sex, the brain is not wired to be gay unless the person consciously decides to live that way.
There's nothing here to say that same-sex couples aren't going through the effort to get a child as a complex form of radical protesting in this case, not only by insisting they have a child, but by forcing their beliefs onto it, investing in another sure-fire gay supporter when they grow up. And children are very prone to protesting or acting out when they reach their teen years, so it's very likely that they would opt to become gay as well.
Children who were observed could have been told by their gay or lesbian parents to appear happy and well-adjusted, it's unlikely that these tests were sprung on them by surprise, the parents surely knew of it ahead of time, the only way to truly know would be to observe the children in secret.
Ugh...typing that dreck hurt me deep inside. But, that's some of what you might hear when sharing this with the opposing side, again, without quoting the bible.

This is quite understandable. The only guess for why homosexuality is attacked is because it's either "out of the norm" or because of religion -- or both. I'm a Christian for one and they say "it's against God's creation," but really from the way that I look at it it's a grey area for me. I find it hard to justify if homosexuality is really something that's bad. I'm not gay, but I'm just saying.
What I find confusing is how you have to make a sacrifice between your religion and your "ability to raise better people." If it does go against religion, then what the hell kind of world is this?

"What I find confusing is how you have to make a sacrifice between your religion and your "ability to raise better people." thanksies x3

What I'm saying is why do you have to choose between being a part of your religion and being a part of raising a child that's more tolerable through homosexuality? Why did religion set up these "compromises" (don't know if this is the correct term) that would result in attacking other people?
I agree with this and I like how you presented yourself. However to make it harder for people to just shrug off your argument as mere opinion, use quotations and provide your sources. Give examples. There are some major nature v.s. nurture points to be made here. It's too big a topic to be a simple essay. More like an abstract to the beginning of a paper. You are off to a great start by the way. ^^
XD
see, I read it all! Thoroughly.
Other than that, it's well written. The for and against arguments are provided in a logical sequence in each paragraph, and the separation of arguments by paragraph is very good.
You've also done the classic thing, which works so well when presenting information;
you told people what you're going to tell them.
you told them it.
you told people what you just told them.
A very effective way of presenting an argument.
