I could do this all day
Does anybody else do this with their pets, or am I the only retarded pet owner out there?
It's kind of funny. We do these teasing things to our pets and humour ourselves with how dumb they are, but I'm pretty sure we're every bit as dumb as they are for doing these things in the first place.
I'm sure I'll give him the treat eventually. I just have to finish amusing myself first.

If this picture is any indication then... well, I guess he does. xD
This is why I like dogs more than cats. Infinite patience. Or it could be a severe addiction to food, not sure. xD My dog'll sit there all damn day if I felt like keeping it up that long. Her ability to pay attention to you is infinite, as long as there's food around, hah.
I still life with the folks, so they did as much training of our dog as I did. They've pretty much taught her to lay down before they'll give her a treat., so now she thinks she has to. Every now and then I'll tell her to stand up, so she'll stand up... and then immediately lay down again. x3 It's hilarious how much it confuses her.
My cat was the same. One time, we'de had the back door removed to be replaced, leaving a big hole in the wall. The cat came to the back step and screamed to be let in so she could eat, with the food less than a foot away from her. I had to pick her up, lift her through the hole, which didn't even have a frame, so she could have easily walked through, and put her down about twelve inches from the step, where she ate. I had to repeat the process to 'let her out' afterwards.

Well, as much as I try to pass them off as innocent...
I've already made that canonically impossible.

Very rarely am I in that situation- I've always got painting to do. Whenever I do something like this, it's usually because I've abused my brain by arting too much in one day and I've shut my brain down to relax for a bit. Once the brain is shut down, very simple things can pass long expanses of time, hah.
I think some pets aren't dumb for falling for the repetition of the movements.. you're giving them attention. After you give them the treat you're going to go ignore them while you use that stick on that flat white stuff for hours, and they're forced to sit nearby and contemplate their paws.
But.. it's adorable too.

cat, lasor pointer.... make car run in tight circles chasing it until he falls over dizzy... hours of entertainment, and when they do catch it, and slam their paws over it, only to have the light end up on top of their paws, watch them rear their head back like, "what is this sorcery?!"
It would be fun, but I'd have to work at a lot of things first, I think. This is pretty much a mess right now, I'd have to spend some time seeing just how actual comic artists go about comic-ing. At the moment, I just don't have the skills to outright make a comic.
Then I'd have to find a writer, because other than very occasional ideas, I got nothin'. xD

I'd recommend;

They do a lot of comics.
As for the ideas, that would be left up to the commissioner or you could practice the comics using stuff that happens in your every day life like; Ru makes a sandwich or Ru takes a shower.

I'll have to keep these in mind... but when I say I need to see how they make comics, I'm more talking about the mechanics behind it, that are a bit harder to sus out just by looking at said comics. Things like how they lay out the page and plan everything and make it all fit. I'd have to practice, basically. xD
My main interest right now is definitely full pictures, I'm working quite hard on improving my colouring, but the comic idea is somewhere in the back of my mind. I spent a little while last night just doodling to see if I could come up with a simple style that comic drawing might work with. No success just yet, but I wouldn't be surprised to see some comics happen at some point in the future.

I think the most important thing to do first is find a style you're comfortable with and don't worry about doing what looks artistically appealing. I don't see a problem with practicing the way you've done this one if it'll help you get the perspective of drawing a lot smaller and figuring how to fit all the objects into a smaller frame.
I agree. I'm rather inflexible in my drawing, I'll be the first to admit. So drawing in a simplified manner is something I really wrestle with. It'd probably be good for me just in general to practice drawing in an easier, comic type style. I might just look into this for a little while and see what I can make of it!
You'd only be drawing in a simplified manner until you got the hang out it really. There's no one stopping you from putting as much detail into a comic as you do with one of your full blown pictures. I just think it'd be something nice to have in your arsenal as an artist, and also for when a picture is giving you a hard time; you could step back doodle a comic and then go back to it.
