I picked up Monster Hunter Tri, while waiting for MHP3, or MH3G to be released here. I'm rather glad I did.

Some of the behavioral changes and things make the monsters seem much more alive. The way the Barroth backs up occasionally when fighting threw me for a loop at first, and the Caedeus was an epic fight. I might have to raise my HR on there some more again, and put together a party to take down Jhen Mohran, so I can try some of the high rank opponents in that game... It was a great way to experience some of the new monsters, too.
I rather enjoy the design of Lagiacrus, too.

It's a little disappointing that Monster Hunter isn't that well known in the USA.
Everyone I've introduced to the games has been hooked. I really hope we see MHP3 or 3G some time.

I'll be happy with even MHF4 on the 3DS as long as Jinouga is in it. I think Japan is a bit mad that USA gets to play online free while in japan they pay for online monthly

They're definitely fun to fight, and they have a great design.

That's a quality hunt time. I wasn't actually aware that SnS could be so effective.

I haven't really used them all that much. I mainly use GS, LS, and sometimes HBG or Bow.
LS on Monster Hunter Tri is especially fun, thanks to the Spirit Gauge changes, I think.

I'm definitely not as quick, but I have been through HR9 in MHFU, including soloing Ukanlos.
I consider that to be a rather decent accomplishment in itself.

Well, I had an amazing fire sns with an element boosting set on so it went down pretty quick. Personally I mainly use sns and hammer, with an exception to gravious; I use a lance on him.

I really enjoy the design of Lagiacrus, too. Monster Hunter has some great concept art and designs.
A while back, I found out one of the first artists that really inspired me, Miho Midorikawa, is working with Capcom on some of the monster designs. :)

They're great games, too. Everyone I've introduced has definitely enjoyed them.
They are underrated quite often, though. Sometimes people have trouble getting past that first hurdle of learning how to hunt monsters.

Yeah, it makes me sad that it seems to be such a hassle for Capcom to release them over here.

They're in Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, and you won't run into any of them until the second half of the High Rank quests, so it takes a while before you see one.
If you're playing Monster Hunter Tri, the closest thing you can fight is a Barrioth.
Barrioths have some similar moves and body structure to Nargacugas.

Pros: Fits my girthy frame, has nargacugas on it, attracts women
Cons: Only 3 nargacugas (could probably use a few more on the 'guns'), cannot see nargacugas when sitting with arms crossed, wolves would have been better if they glowed in the dark.

Are you sure you can handle more than three Nargacugas on your very shirt?
Two may challenging, especially if they're in the same area, but THREE Nargas may be more than anyone can comprehend at once.

The only game that Nargas are in that was released in the USA is Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. There aren't any in Tri, sadly.
The closest thing in Tri is a Barrioth. They share a similar body style and a few attacks.

Nargacugas have one of my favorite designs, and their glowing red eyes, when in rage mode are definitely impressive.

Their toothy beaks are a rather odd design choice, but they work well, in the game.

As for gryphon sketches....please do! I've seen how you draw feathers in some previous works, you're spot on, and you can obviously handle the rest of their anatomy. I'm curious though, do you find feathered critters to be as difficult as some artists do?

Nargacuga is my favorite monster to fight in Freedom Unite. My first time hunting him was intense and probably one of the toughest hunts I had done up to that point, though thankfully my Wailing Cleaver helped me gain victory. Such good memories of Freedom Unite~

I love Narga's glowing eyes, it's probably the best rage mode indicator of any monster in my opinion.

Freedom Unite is indeed a good game and it was actually my first Monster Hunter game. I still play it now and again trying to get through G-rank right now.

I'm really looking forward to Monster Hunter 3U, I'll probably get it on the WiiU so that I'll be able to do multiplayer with others. The only things that I'm not looking forward to in it is being back in Moga Village cause I like Yukumo Village much better (heck even Pokke Village would be better) and having Cha-Cha, along with Kayamba, back cause I prefer felynes in all honesty. I do look forward to the inclusion of the weapons that weren't in Tri for underwater hunts, I've played Portable 3rd so I know all the new movesets for the old weapons but I'm curious to see how they work underwater. I wrote too much I think haha, just goes to show how obsessed I am with Monster Hunter.

MHFU G Rank is rather awesome. The addition of G Rank in MH3U is one of the things I'm really looking forward to, but the added items and monsters will be really nice, too. Moga isn't my favorite village either. I like the farm and felyne cooking in Pokke village more than Moga, but the way you build up the village and the trade ship are rather neat. I think those are better than how you bought farm upgrades in MHFU.
I haven't played any of Portable 3rd, but I have thought about importing it at some point...

Perhaps we'll have to play online a bit, once 3U comes out.

I suppose you can't write too much about Monster Hunter. Honestly I've never really had a chance to talk with someone else about Monster Hunter before and it's really awesome to finally get out some of this penned up excitement and such about such a great game as Monster Hunter xD

I'm very excited for G rank in MH3U especially since all the G-Rank armor will actually have different appearances than low and high rank armors. The G-Rank armors also remind me a bit of the style to armor in MH Frontier, I've only seen a few of them but the G-Rank Barroth and Barioth Armors really look awesome to me. The farm in Yukumo village is a lot better than the one in Moga Village to be honest, so I don't want to go back to the Moga Farm.

We definitely will have to hunt together sometime once 3U comes out. It'd be nice to have someone awesome to play with rather than with just strangers. Also sorry for clogging up your picture with all this Monster Hunter talk xD

I've gotten two or three people hooked on Monster Hunter, so I get to talk about it from time to time. I made it through G Rank and soloed Ukanlos in MHFU, but I haven't made it to High Rank on MH3. I haven't managed put together a large enough party for Jhen Moran...
Since MH3U is on it's way, I'm letting people borrow MH3, to get them into the game. Hopefully, I'll be able to arrange some larger parties in MH3U.

It'll be great fighting the updated versions of previous monsters in MH3U, too. I got to play a little of it, because I have a friend that has the japanese 3DS demo. The Plesioth is much more fun to fight than in MHFU. Being able to chase it underwater makes the battle more intense and removes those waiting times, and it's hip check has a more logical hitbox.

Also, the 3D effect works out as well as I hoped it would. I don't usually use the 3D feature on my 3DS, but I'll have to on MH3U.
It looks so awesome in 3D. SO. AWESOME.

I've tried getting some friends hooked on it but I've not had much luck. I got my best friend into it and we'd play MHFU together a lot but then he moved to Cali for college. Another friend I convinced to get Tri and we played online sometime but he'd never try anything besides Sword and Shield and then he just fell out of it. Well if you ever want a hand with the Jhen Mohran I'd be happy to help you out, I've beaten online mode and I'm currently sporting full High Rank Jhen Armor and a myriad of end game weapons so I'm sure the Jhen would be no big deal.

Oh gosh was Plesioth a nightmare in FU, worst hitboxes ever! It's nice that they fixed him some and now having him go into water won't be the most frustrating thing ever anymore xD

I've never actually played on a 3DS before I don't know how it looks. Are you gonna get MH3U for the 3DS or the WiiU? From what I've read the 3DS may possibly be local play only which kinda sucks. By the way how are the controls on the 3DS? I was a bit worried cause from what I know of the 3DS you'd have to use the control stick with your index finger and the directional pad with your thumbs which seems awkward.

I'll probably try and find a way to pick it up on 3DS and Wii U, because apparently, you can transfer your character between them. It'll be very useful for portable play and multiplayer.
I think the 3DS control scheme seemed similar to the controls on the PSP games, but I can't quite remember. The controls felt familiar enough that I didn't really pay attention to them.

Currently my copy of MH3 is being borrowed, so I don't have it at the moment, but I'll let you know if I'm planning on doing Jhen Moran and High Rank.
I might wait for MH3U, though... It would help keep High Rank fresh, too.

As for the weapon types, it's best to pick your weapon for the monster, of course. My preferred style in MHFU was GS, with Art of Unsheathing. There are few things in that game more satisfying than landing a level 3 charge at the right time...
I do change my weapon for different creatures, though. The GS was a solid choice for me, but there are more effective weapons for some creatures. For example, I switched to LS for the Narga, and Hammer on the crabs.
One of these days, I'll have to put some time into gunning. Maybe I'll be a gunner in MH3U. ;)
What's your preferred style?

In MHFU I initially started out on GS but I kinda had trouble getting the timings right with the monsters since I was fairly new. After that I switched to Bow and Arrow but I had trouble with that as well. Eventually I tried out the LS and I fell in love with it and it has been my main weapon since. I do switch weapons depending upon the monster like you said though honestly I've found that LS works in most cases. I've switched to GS for some bigger monsters like Gravios and the like and sometimes I've sported a bowgun for monsters like Rajang.
Gunning is lots of fun in the time I've done it, I've mostly done it in MHP3rd though it's been a bit hard with it being in Japanese and all.

This is the type of thing that would go amazingly on a shirt; any possibility of that?

I've been thinking about that, too...
