Gift art for the amazing
CalebSharpTeef Hope you like! Sorry that it took me a few weeks. But I'm very pleased with this. First serious artwork I've done in nearly three years. I hardly ever attempt backgrounds so it took some time before I was satisfied with this.
This is the priestess of Poseidon, and the guardian of the sacred wisdom of the merfolk kingdom. She glows because she is bio-luminescent. Her "hair" is really feelers tipped with light organs. She is capable of blinding enemies and controlling water currents. A handy non-violent way to ward off the big stomached monsters of the deep.
She is also poisonous, so no stealsy.
materials: pen and colored pencil on 8.5" X 11" paper.

Hehe, the coloring is the hardest part for me. A bad color job can ruin anything, I know. ><
So very glad that you like her! I wasn't sure what you would think of her rainbow sherbert coloring ^^
Also, if you want an unmarked copy just note me. The scanner faded alot of her color actually, real version is much more vibrant. I'm at constant war with my technology.

Arrgh technoooooloooogy *shakes fist* The colouring part always throws me off as well... my paintings can end up very thick sometimes just painting little details over and over and over. Either that or the dreaded turpentine shows up.
For markers\pencils\crayons\pastels I have an even more difficult time :(
But you end up with something concrete, that you can actually touch.~ It is wonderful.

So very very welcome!
See, I never really liked rose art, I always found them to not be true shades, and the crayons very waxy, iI guess they have changed over the last 20 years? I do love my Crayolas though! When I do traditional coloring I tend to blend my pencils (Prisma & Crayola), crayons (crayola), and markers(heeheh sharpies and crayola) together. not always but allot of the times its just pencil and crayons. I was lucky to have had friends with Prismas they didn't need anymore since someone bought them new ones . . .otherwise it would be Crayola all the way. Which I wouldn't mind anyway . .. it's just that prismas just have so many different colors! O.O

RoseArt has two pencils I find handy, "cream" and "pale flesh". Other than that their color breaks alot and their blue could be better. They are pretty waxy, it makes a sheen the scanner has issues with. Much of the color isn't as bright as it should be. And yeah you can get the most interesting effects with mixed media. Colored gel pens over sharpi can do odd things. ^^
You were lucky to get them ^^ I've been tempted for a long time to get some Prismas.
