In my manufacturing class yesterday, I decided that I was done with precision and tolerances in thousandths of inches for the week, and that I needed to have some fun. I turned this top down on the engine lathe over the course of about an hour, using some hot rolled mild steel. If you get the initial spin just perfect, it'll go for about a minute or two before falling over.
The pic is a bit grainy, because I used my "piece-o-shit" camera that only operates at 6.2 megapixels. Otherwise, you can see the general shape of it.
This, among other things, is why it's fun to be an engineer at OIT.
