Just something I was goofing around with, picture miniaturism is where you blur the foreground and background to make the focal point of the image look like a miniature figurine or model. It can be done with real life photos of life size things, to make them look like something really small. Some better examples of this would be:

This one didn't come out as nice as I hope, but the main reason for doing this is, what if Minecraft had a viewer setting that could auto miniaturize things? xP It would be so awesome and look totally cool!

From tutorials online that I've done, I would recommend increasing the saturation and contrast to make things appear painted. To give it the 'distance' look, use a linear gradient of blur with the sharp section being the area of interest. I'm no expert, I've just done these before (learned from tutorials online), they're a lot of fun! Never applied it to Minecraft tho. That would be a neat patch!
I believe the technical term for it is "tilt shift" because of the type of lens used, where you can tilt and shift the focal plane (think: those giant old cameras where you put your head under a cloth and they have the bellows and whatnot). It's a very interesting technique though. I've used it in a few of my own pictures with varying results. link... It's not a very good photo, I know, but it's one of the few where I could get high enough to achieve that effect. You should try it with an actual camera too :3
