I started coloring this drawing of me with Painter X but I ended up going back to Paint Shop Pro... again. Painter X has nice brushes but it lacks some basic stuff. It showed so much promise too I couldn't even find something simple like cropping in there. And the layers are just counter productive.
Oh well, I'm happy with the shading so far. A little more touch-up and I thing it'll do. Too me forever, but I think I got PSP set up pretty well this time. Too bad Painter X (and all the others I tried) was such a dud. Good in certain areas but horrible in others.
I added the forgotten ear and moved around the horns some. The horns still looks terrible but I'm too lazy to mess with it further. The wings also a bit haphazard, even though I do like the shading so far on it. Just a few more texturing and I shall be golden. :p So, what you all think?

Painter has some nice traditional painting effects in it and there is a cropping tool in it.It just takes a while to get the hang of it I've seen some awsome art made in it.I think a realy good tablet helps to get the best from it to.Well enough of my ramberlings your pics looking good to
Yeah, I noticed that. The cropping tool must be well buried. I couldn't find it.
I seen some good stuff too. Painter X is really geared for the traditional artist type. I'm not trying to emulate a painting so I find certain things limiting. So back to Paint Shop Pro I go. Seems to have the best balance. Though a better brush system would make it killer.
I haven't tried GIMP yet. That'll probably be next on my hit list. Let's see it can survive my ministrations.

I need to add more texturing, especially the grainy pattern of my hide. I want to use the warp mesh tool to make the pattern "flow" around my skin. I seen it too much where the pattern is simply pasted on and looks flat. By contouring the mesh, I hope to give a 3D look to it.
But yeah, I'm on the homestretch on drawing of me. Then I have to make the background. Match it with the foreground is gonna be painful. And adding the "other" elements to complete the picture. That'll be the other version. :p

Yeah, I noticed that of Painter. I wish there was a program that does drawing well but still keep the basic editing functions. I find Paint Shop Pro (version 9 I currently use) is almost there. Needs a better brush system and it's be just about perfect. I hate bouncing between all these programs.
