Velia is a goddess of death, living amongst mortals as a simple voodoo 'princess'. She assists Brijit Semetye and oversees the student Psykhe's apprenticeship. She knows far more than Semetye ever will, but for the sake of balance between gods and mortals, she keeps her knowlege largely to herself.

She is very softspoken and warm, and when the time comes for her to take a life, she sings a song of sorrow for the soul she takes to the underworld, where it is then judged.
