This is the Final project for my THEA308 class. Since I had already taken this professors mask making class a year or two ago she said I really had to "wow" her. So I made Avocado the Gryphon.
He has a plastic hinged jaw, and follow me eyes that I painted, which are installed into the head with some Apoxy that
sonartoo was nice enough to give me (i still owe you for that- did not forget). He uses 3 lengths of DF fur: 1" at its regular length and shaved, 2" and 3.5" monkey fur. Its actually quite soft and as you can see- makes great mowhawks. I may buy more since they are getting rid of it soon.
The face/beak is all made out of Tarlatan. This is a method I do not recommend for fursuiters. While Tarlatan is very good for theatrical masks, it is not as comfortable as foam or resin. It also causes uneven paint jobs, as you can see by the beak. Its also very light which can be a curse and a blessing because it is easily squash-able.
Overall though I like Avocado. I will probably calibrate his jaw once I get it back from grading and even out those ears. Yes I know they are uneven too, but its a time crunch here. Nothing to be done.
Best of luck on finals all you college kids
