One of the companions for SWTOR is Qyzen Fess, a Trandoshian. He's basically a space redneck whose religion is hunting. He talks in this growly voice, and lost his eye in a hunt
But in the customization I'm using, he has both eyes but they seem to point is either direction. That given that his mouth never fully closes, he looks like a guy in a rubber monster suit. Very Power Rangers. But, seeing as he's FAR less intolerable than the douchy scientist you get next, I'm still using him.

I think the Consular was all-around disappointing. However, it sounds like you're not not done playing it so I won't spoil. There does seem to be a lot of differing opinions across the board for all the companions, though. I thought the Smuggler Companion Corso was a swell guy but Internet seems to hate him.
Uhg, Corso...Nah, gimme Bodawr (sp?) any day. Just have to take that damn wookie toss off. Kept flinging guys into more groups so I got a huge clusterfuck going. Personally, my current favorite companion is the medic you get as a Trooper.
