I've seen this "adoptables" thing before. Seemed stupid to me.

i can understand "adoptables" when its a unique character (not just a re-used template) and is more than just a quick sketch of them. I've done adoptables in the past but they were all different characters with fully shaded CG pictures. XD i dont buy characters myself but if i were, i'd get something with actual art and not just a template recolor.

But I was referring to the template version where it's six differently colored versions of the same darn thing. And they didn't even look that great to begin with.

lol, it's true. XD I admit to using free-templets for my adopts, but it's because I can't draw. However, I never say they're my design or say they can't make their own. Plus, I never use the hue slider thing. And now that this joke is done, perhaps some actual advice on creating adopts can be made? @u@ *cute cat eyes* Please?

the only advice i can make is instead of using templates (although it may not apply to those who have difficulty drawing), make a unique drawing per character and try to avoid a ton of overly complex markings! It always makes me sad when all the adoptables i see are WAY too complex to ever be drawn reasonably accurate at a later date.. XD

What about these adoptables I've made? Can you give me any advice on them? (I can only flat color, though I'm working on learning to shade. The shaded/detailed ones were part of an adopt collab.)

Well, the taur is a template. It's a lineart that I got permission to use. There's a female version, but otherwise it's the same as the others. I just added a background cause I was bored.

Thiiiiiis is so hilarious. I don't see the lace markings so much, but the horns are true.
Even one of my original species (I don't adopt them out at the time being so I guess
they're not those kind of designs yet) have horns. Though they're not based off wolfs,
only another species. x'D Most original species are based off wolves, though, so that's
sooooo true. Also I love how ridiculously sparkly the examples are. On another note,
a lot of times when I see wolf-based original species I get this feeling of deja vu, and
I swear, if I tried, I could make a whole montage of original "wolf based" species that
look EXACTLY like one another. Haha.
