Darling doughnuts to go nuts over from the kitchens of
xommon
Inspired by
mokobka's original recipe at http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5752794/ I told him I would remake these like... literally 12 months from this week. xD Sorry! A little late! But, hey! I posted it!
Finally! I've been wanting to make these for a while! Doughnuts, yes. But what kind, you ask? Banana doughnuts! :D The dough was regular dough, whereas the glaze was a banana-vanilla mixture! It was sweet from the banana, but smooth like vanilla! Really a great treat if you like bananas! Or, if you're like me, you hate bananas as fruit, but you like their flavour!
Yes, I admit the recipe is a cheat -- but believe me! I do have a doughnut recipe! I just didn't have the time to use it at the time!
Sorry, the picture is really bad. And the doughnuts didn't look as good as I wanted them to, because I had to rush them! I'm planning on remaking this recipe, however! ^^ Someday in the future, that is.
If you can't find banana extract in your area, then you can replace it with another type of extract, such as coconut extract, almound extract, or even just more vanilla extract.
... oh, yeah. If you burp and can taste and smell the banana again, then that's normal. Or, I'm just weird. :I
INGREDIENTS:
One can of Pillsbury Biscut Dough
Vegetable or Canola Oil
Powdered Sugar OR Castor Sugar OR Icing Sugar
Hot Water
Imitation Banana Extract
Vanilla Extract
Hundreds and Thousands OR Sprinkes OR Jimmies [Optional]
Other Doughnut Toppings (such as cinnamon or chocolate chips) [Optional]
Food Colouring [Optional]
MATERIALS:
Slotted Metal Spoon OR Metal Spatula OR Metal Tongs
Saucepan
Non-Disposable Plates
Paper Towels
Small Bowl (big enough to hold one doughnut)
Spoon
Bottle Cap (from a water bottle, for example)
COOKING:
1: Pour vegetable or canola oil into a skillet. The amount of oil you need depends on the size of the pan and the size of the doughnuts. The doughnuts should be able to float ontop of the oil. Heat the oil on medium heat.
2: Open the can of Pillsbury Biscut Dough and seperate the biscuts on a plate.
3: Using the bottle cap, punch out a hole in each of the biscuts to make them into doughnuts. Keep the doughnut holes.
4: Carefully lower doughnuts into the hot oil and cook for about a minute and a half or until the outside is golden brown and crispy. It's best if the doughnuts are not touching each other in the oil while they're cooking. So, if you must do one at a time, then by all means, please do. Cook the doughnut holes too so you can test your glazes!
[Optional]: After you cook your first doughnut, put it on a plate and cut it in half to see the inside. If the inside is still raw, adjust the heat to accomidate.
5: After the doughnuts are cooked, place them onto a non-disposable plate with a papertowel ontop of cool and to drain exess oil.
6: Prepare the glaze. There's no real way to make glaze, so I have no exact way to tell you how to make it, but I'll give a general idea of what I did: First, I put some powdered sugar into the bowl and added a little bit of hot water, vanilla extract, banana extract, and food colouring to make it more yellow. Then, I mixed them together really well until it became glaze-like. You can use the doughnut holes that you cooked to test your glaze. Dip them into the glaze and eat them whole to test your glaze's flavour and texture. Change to accomidate.
7: Glaze the actual doughnuts by dunking them into the bowl of glaze.
8: Coat one doughnut on the glaze, then put it on a plate and quickly decorate it with hundreds and thousands, sprinkles, jimmies, or any other doughnut toppings or candies before the glaze hardens. Do one doughnut at a time!
9: You're done! Go show off your banana doughnuts to your friends and family!
