Long post is long (sorry!)!!!
A good friend for the past 13 years (though I've known him for nearly 17) passed away last Saturday. When I met him he was subbing for a class of mine in 6th grade; the first day we didn't talk much, but by the next day we were ripping on each other. I saw him once and a while through the rest of grade school and my Freshman year when he subbed for random teachers around the schools. My Sophomore year he was asked to become full time at my high school, little did I know that his daughter was a Freshman that year and ever since I've been friends with them both (even if the beginning started out with me being tortured by them XD).
When I first found out where they lived, I went over there and the first thing that he said was "Rhi, get my shotgun". She reminded him that he didn't have one and he mumbled "then get my revolver". If it were anyone else, you'd probably take it seriously, but that was the old man's sense of humor, and pretty much everyone who's ever really talked to him for a good five minutes automatically thought he was one of, if not the greatest guys they've ever met.
I never really had him as a teacher outside of him being a sub, but I was lucky enough to be included into the group of people that (eventually) got to go watch random shit at his house, and even go to Karaoke with him looking like a dirty hippy with his trademark comb-over and a ponytail.
Now one of his favorite bands was The Beatles and I think it was for his birthday his daughter gave him a Blue Meanie tie. When I heard at 1AM Sunday morning that he had passed I immediately decided that I had to make something to memorialize that old bastard, and came up with this, since he loved throwing things at his students... and well... Glove is the Blue Meanie's version of punishment ^_^.
My sig is on there, but I ain't sayin which one! I really wish people would have signed it at the service but I heard many of them being too afraid to... oh well...
