* * * * * The King Kheluhlien ascended the stairs, his temper rising with each flight up the wide staircase, hooves thudding dully on the solid stone as they rose into the tower. "I do apologize, master. It isn't much further, your grace. Please do forgive...” whimpered an annoyingly obsequious old servant almost incessantly as he lead the heavy warhorse ever-upward. Kheluhlien glanced into a few of the rooms as he climbed to a new landing. They appeared to be guest quarters. He snorted... "Why am I in the residential wing of the palace? Where is this fool leading me to?” he thought to himself, finally speaking up, "I have an appointment with the Prince, slave. You shouldn't be showing me to my quarters, you should be taking me to meet him.” he scolded, not making any effort to keep the edge from his voice. The servile old horse cowed under his eyes' glare, "My apologies, your majesty. I beg your patience. The Prince asked me to have you meet him on the high terrace.”
Kheluhlien rolled his eyes and sighed. "What is this, some kind of bribe?” he thought, knowing that the high terrace of the residential wing would be the prince's harem, and not for serious diplomatic meetings. "Is he going to offer me some little nobody to try and weasel a concession out of me? Doesn't he know that I have my own harem? I always thought Lord Etheras was more clever than this...” the zebra King thought to himself as they finally levelled off on the top landing. But he couldn't suppress a slight stirring in his loins at the thought of Etheras himself. The boy prince was of such impeccable court breeding - fur the purest of white - shining and beautiful. His cold intelligent eyes, his slim delicate form, the refined grace and finishing-school poise of his movements and posture... he was so fashionable, it was easy to forget that he's a boy. "How lovely the fennec boy would look, ornamenting my court at my side.” he considered. Yes - the only thing in Etheras's harem that Kheluhlien could imagine wanting is Etheras himself... and that wasn't likely to happen. He was a powerful prince.. not as powerful as King Kheluhlien himself, but not the type of personality likely to fit his image of what a King's mate should be. Too headstrong. If the little fop would be his girl he would have to learn his place, and Kheluhlien didn't think he had it in him.
... which is why Kheluhlien was so surprised when the servant opened the tall gold-leaf door onto the terrace to find it unoccupied. Or... not entirely unoccupied, but rather than a whole harem of girls, a single scantily-clad white figure relaxed in the center, eyeing him with amber eyes while drawing smoke from a hookah. Kheluhlien felt his body moving forward as-if on its own, for his mind was too shocked to do anything more than keep his body upright. Could it be..? The figure turned its face to him, and Kheluhlien recognized the delicate features of the fennec prince Etheras... but what was he wearing??
"Welcome to your harem away from home, your Majesty” Etheras said, rolling onto his back to show off his costume. He was dressed as a harem boy, wearing only a tight thong covering his boyhood, otherwise naked aside from extravagant gold harem jewelry... fine chains, bangles, anklets... but he didn't quite fit the part. There was something regal and majestic about him, either taught or bred, that elevated him above a harem boy or girl.. he was too good for it. It was as if those all boys and girls were a bunch of bad actors clumsily playing out their part, and that only now for the first time he saw what they were trying to capture... and Etheras had done it so effortlessly. It was simply -him-.
"My harem, you say?” Kheluhlien asked, grinning and stepping closer, taking in the whole sight once the initial shock had worn off. He simply gazed down at the inviting sight until he heard the soft click of the door closing behind him. "Does that mean you have to do as I say, little boi?” rumbled the large, heavy-set King.
"I'm here to fulfill your every desire, your Majesty,” said Etheras with a glint in his eye, before placing the mouthpiece of the hookah between his lips and drawing from it once more. Kheluhlien watched, eyes sliding over that perfect effeminate boy-body, grinning, but was a little surprised to see that the fox was inhaling the smoke. And when he blew it out his nose, the zebra detected the faintest whiff of burning poppy.
"Be careful with that. If you smoke too much you'll fall asleep before you finish sucking my ....” said the zebra with a chuckle, walking over and laying himself down on a pile of pillows. Etheras responded immediately, rolling over and spooning up against Kheluhlien's side.
"Is that what the King would like?” said the harem fennec with a smile, placing a slender paw on the zebra's broad chest, gazing up at his face, eyes slightly glazed from the intoxication of the opium.
"Yes, my beauty” Kheluhlien responded, sliding a hand around the boy to hug that small body against him... draping an arm around him and giving him a firm squeeze, causing the fennec to giggle.
"Of course, your majesty.” Etheras responded, getting up, pushing aside the zebra's loincloth...

Um... no that's not the reason why I changed characters at all. I changed characters because *I* had changed, and because there were always things that I didn't like about Jaspian (physically & artistically) that had become canon. It was easier to make a new character than to change Jaspian that fundamentally... and I wouldn't want to anyway. I like Jaspian just how he is. But I want to go off in another direction - one that isn't compatible with what I've established with the Jaspian character.
So no, whoever indicated that the "perception the fandom had" of Jaspian had any influence over my decision to create Etheras, is incorrect. Quite the contrary even - I liked the perception the fandom had of him. He had (and still has) a large and growing fanbase. I really don't care what others think, and even if I did, the furs who are trying to "tame" the fandom are far in the minority, so I wouldn't listen to them anyway.
If you're hoping to see all PG-rated art here, I have to disappoint you. That is not my plan. In fact, this character will be going in the other direction. He will be very sexual, and much more extreme than Jaspian was. I will probably create a second FA page for the really extreme stuff, as not to scare away this character's original fans.

I was actually going by this, which i took from your journal on Jaspian's page: "I just thought I should let ya all know that I'm putting the character Jaspian on pause... reason-being is that, over the past few years, I've been wanting to RP and commission art that don't fit well with the image that I've created for Jaspian. To be honest, this drive has already corrupted that image a bit, which I regret now."
Now, if i misinterpreted that, then i do apologize for my assumption and granted I don't RP with, never done anything, with you, so i'm really going by art/journals alone and a lot of it looks like you're simply recreating Jaspian as a second Fennec with a change in fur color. Now, everyone will agree that consistently getting G rated pictures *can* be boring but most of Etheras's pictures are putting him in the same position of Jaspian. So, my point being that I don't, yet, see this new direction.

The new direction is that this character is evil and dominant, while Jaspian is benign and submissive. The new direction has definitely already been set in the one (just see his attitude.. he's much more severe). But later on there will be more extreme art, such as sadism, bloodsports, and dismemberment. These are not things Jaspian would do. See what I mean? (this is also why I will probably have a second "hardcore" FA page)
As a hookah smoker of 11+ years and once the manger of a hookah lounge, I can without a doubt say ...no, opium wont work in a hookah pipe. Opium needs a direct flame to burn/smoke. Hookahs use coal separated from the tobacco by a screen, glass screen thin piece of clay or directly on the top crust of "zaghoul" or a "scab" mix. No open lit flames are used ....and the opium would just be sucked though the holes in the bowl....
I dont want to be harping on you for no reason, lately the FDA is trying to crack down on hookahs and lounges to make them illegal paraphernalia...and IMO that would be devastating, I just dont want to see the spread of the idea that hookahs are intend for illegal substances (however i am well aware it is traditional and common to mix hashish into the shisha)

But yeah I agree completely. Most people use hookah completely legally, so they're banning hookah accessories for... what? 1% of users? Less? Ridiculous.
To be perfectly honest, "drug paraphernalia" is a bit of a stupid concept anyway, when you can make a gravity bong with an empty milk carton, a bucket, some tape and scizzors, and a bowl. If DEA's concern is people getting high, then its preferable that users stick to their glassware. When you force people to get creative, sometimes the product is more dangerous than if you had simply left them alone

Very nice! I like the story (full one). Etheras is calculating and he can do it well! I am rather jealous of that king. One day I'd like to get my hands on a certain white fennec. ;)
