I've been working on this personal project since sometime last month, finishing it in bits and pieces whenever I had the time or the inspiration to do so.
I wanted to do yet more practice with backgrounds, so that's how the idea for it started. It was originally going to be a very limited colour pallet for this piece; 3 or 4 different colours maximum. But then my hands took over and kind of did what they wanted. The fox isn't even really a fox anymore, but some kind of brown... canine thing. I just felt like using that dusty brown was right for the colours in the window.
Someday I'll have a house with a window and a bookshelf, and it will be my special reading/napping-while-holding-a-book place. It's part of my dream house c:
Done with Copics, touched up in Photoshop to retain lighter colours.
Copics: Y13, Y15, YG03, G00, G21, G85, BG99, B000, B01, B32, BV11, V99, E09, E13, E44, E47, W1, W3, W5, Colorless Blender.
Coloured pencils, white gel pen.
Photoshop CS5: Grain filter, pressure sensitive square tip brush for sky.

There are so many things I love about this! The subtle halo of light around the window, the rich browns, the tree outside, the way the clothes are shaded, and the bookmark. There are a lot of little things going on in this big picture that I just love. You really pushed yourself on this one. I'd love to see more images like this from you, with even minimal backgrounds. They give an extra bit of 'oomph' to the image as a whole. Great job on this :D
