Lego actually does theirs on purpose. They did have alternate building styles on certain models in time's past and they wanted to show their buyers what they COULD build, not what they ARE building. Unfortunately for us, they never release instructions for the alternate building styles. However, a site by the name of brickfactory exists where you can build models from the time Lego started becoming a company, to the time now where they're all over the world. But yeah, this...just...what the hell? I know I don't typically like MLP, and this would be another reason for me to not like them: they can't get their shit right! >.<
