While the hat looks nice and comfortable, I think it might conflict a bit with the time period you're aiming at. I can be mistaken, but the bowler hat was rather common back then, though strangely in most medias it's restricted to the Pinkerton's or some of the wealthier folks.
But in regard of the picture, I like the general design and combination of cloths you have chosen.

Upon my latest re-evaluation, I've decided to kinda go for a cross between western and eastern designs and since we're talking fantasy, the question of the "time period" is one I'm blissfully ignoring. You seem to be quite knowledgeable in the field of hats anyhow, and I appreciate the input c: I'm gonna put some further thought into whether or not he will be wearing a hat and which one, but as things stand right now, I'm probably gonna do without it. I'm practicing myself in the high art of "subtlety" and while Old West influences are all well and good, I can't help but think that the hat is kind of "overkill"... One shouldn't spell everything out for the crowd, is what I'm saying.

A random fact for good measure: I own a black fedora which is just a teensy bit too small to be worn comfortably. It sure looks alright but it just doesn't feel like it... In the process of writing down these very lines, I'm researching for ways to absolve my predicament and, as it happens, I did come across a promising idea involving just a little bit of steam - I'm gonna try that out tomorrow.

Now that I think about it, a fedora would make a probable choice - Indy wore one, you know :b
