True story of what happened to my main character, Kal-Meesai, on the first time I went through that quest.
There were more fails once I was inside the embassy, and I may make a part two.
In a nut shell... you can't take anything into the embassy with you, but this woodelf smuggles what you need inside...so I gave him all of my magic equipment and my robes... without realizing that I had nothing else to wear... so I broke into a room in the tavern, stole some clothes, went to the windmill, could not go to the party until I put on some party clothes that happened to be the exact same clothing I was wearing....
lol that went well... what else could go wrong?
