Protip:
Take the photo from a distance. If your camera has auto zoom(I use my phone, the built in auto zoom is a pain in the ass for detail shots), Get it to zoom and while it's trying to zoom slowly push the camera toward the item you're trying to photograph.
You may need to do it a few times at different speeds, but it will eventually zoom properly.
Also, try to avoid taking shots with a light directly behind or above you. It'll help cut down on glare. Try to take a shot with the light to the side of you.
